You can track time in three main ways, depending on your personal preferences and the permissions you are given by your Admins.
Real-Time Time Tracking with the Time Tracker Clock
There are a couple of ways use real-time time tracking, which allows you to start a tracking clock when you begin work on an Item, and then stop the clock when you are finished. This tracks your time in "real-time".
One method is to use the time-tracking clock at the top of your screen:
Click on the time-tracking button and select the Item you wish to track time against, then click "Start Timer":
After you are done working on the Item and you wish to stop time, click the "stop" button to stop the timer:
You will then be presented with the Log Entry module, which allows you to edit the hours and minutes of your entry and add a note. Remember to click "Save" to save your time entry:
Real-time time tracking can also be done directly on an Item on the Project Details page. Navigate to your Items, click into the "Spent" column for the Item you wish to track against, and click "Start Timer":
This bypasses the "select Item" step of starting the real-time tracker, and automatically begins a time tracker against the Item in question, which you can see both on that Item and on the top of the screen:
When you wish to stop this tracker you can either click on the stop button at the top of the screen, as above, or you can click on the timer on the Item, and you will then be presented with the Log Entry module, which allows you to edit the hours and minutes of your entry and add a note. Remember to click "Save" to save your time entry:
You can also start the time tracker by clicking the "Start Timer" button whenever viewing any Item:
Like starting the timer from the Items list on the Project Details page, clicking "Start Timer" when viewing an Item automatically starts a timer against that Item. You can then click the stop button when viewing that Item (or on the Item on the Project Details page, or at the top of the screen) and you will then be presented with the Log Entry module, which allows you to edit the hours and minutes of your entry and add a note. Remember to click "Save" to save your time entry:
Adding a Manual Time Entry
If you do not wish to use the time tracker, but instead add a time entry for time that has already elapsed, you can use the "Add Time Entry" option which can be found on the first two of the above outlined options:
On the time-tracker at the top of the screen select the "Manual Log" tab and select the Project and Item you wish to log a time entry for, then enter the appropriate date and time, and click "Add":
Alternatively, Click in the Spent column against an Item on your Project Details page and select "Add Time Entry":
This will automatically populate the Item to your time entry, and you can then modify the date and time details as appropriate, and click "Add" to log your time:
Time records can be seen and edited by clicking on the relevant task name. Of course, you can also build reports centred around time records. You can always view a breakdown of the Time Tracked on any given Item easily by clicking on the "Time Tracked" tab on that item:
You can also use the Time Tracking Timer button, which is located both on every item and at the top of your page:
Using the Timesheet
The Timesheet entry method allows you to use the drag-n-drop method to add time entries to your Timesheet. Click and drag the appropriate amount of time on the desired day, select the details of the Item you wish to track against, add a note if you wish, and click "Add" to save:
