Things to Know Before Moving

Not all data in Nexus is exactly the same. Moving all of your projects into Nexus is one step, but it's worth checking through the following items to make sure they are up to your specifications. Let us know if you have any questions about the below!

Hourly Rates

The charge rate figure (e.g. $60.00 p/ hour) is pulled through, but not the actual hourly service (i.e. it will not be labelled as 'Junior Rate' etc). Check your hourly services from the Hourly Rates menu in Settings, and include a cost value if you intend to track costs. Once you're happy with these options, you can go through your converted projects and templates and apply these rates to your items. You can do this via bulk-selected tools. You could also simply add these hourly rates to your templates for future projects.

The utility of doing so is that if your rates do change in future, you can edit them in the Hourly Services menu and this will update the values across all active work and templates.

Marking Time as Invoiced

If you do invoice based on time tracked, we now keep a marker for time records to indicate if they have/havent been invoiced for. Time Records in classic do not have this association, so in moving your time records over for the first time they will not be marked as invoiced, even if included in an invoice. This only means when you've initally converted it may pay to be careful when creating invoices, or to go through and mark items as invoiced.

Country ID May Not Be Set

The country value is now largely linked to your accounting provider and will be set automatically based on those settings. If you arent integrated with an accounting partner, you may want to go to Settings/Account Settings to make sure this is done.

Client Roles Need to Be Set for All Clients

We have now created permission sets, or Roles, for client logins. This means if you do have your clients logging in, you'll want to create Roles for them and assign those out.

Custom Permissions

Custom Permission sets will not be copied through to Nexus. Instead, each member will need to be assigned to a Role, or an assortment of Roles. This means you'll need to go through and check that all staff have a role appropriate to their level of required access.

Item Templates

Item templates are not directly converted, although Project Templates will be. We talk more about this in our related article, 'How to Migrate to Nexus'.
